get squeezed by Chinese firms in the future. Its welfare model is not sustainable in the long run. After 1970s, the welfare system discourages new ventures(new job creation) and encourages abuse by various people. The free lunch to the muslim immigrants created inreconcilable hostility between frenchmen and muslims: the former thought of the latter as lazy and cultural threat to the French republic, the latter perceives the former as implicit racists. Most french companies do not give muslims even interview opportunities if they identify some non-french names.
The social tension will be a time bomb sooner or later given a shrinking local population and explosion in muslim population
Look at how hard it is for young people to find jobs in France now and how few new companies were established in the past 10 years-- you will understand it will face a crisis sooner or later. France lost talents to America in many industries and now only sustain advantage in a limited number of traditionally strong ones.
America had a time bomb with its huge trade/gov deficits, but at firm levels, it is still a fiercely competitive society with lots of innovations commercialized quickly. High birth rate and talents inflow MAKE EVERYONE harder in their work, but in the long run, everyone benefits from high productivity.
