People following their heart deserve respect. But this kind of people don't keep imagining what they could have been, they just keep doing what they want to do or try, which is the fundamental difference from the people who can not face their failure.
People who can not face their failure know deeply in their heart that they can not go back in time to make another choice and at the same time do not have the courage to try something different now. What they usually do is to keep reminding themselves of their "glorious" past and exaggerate the possible outcome of the road they never took. In this way, they somehow think they can prove they actually achieved something with greater value, since we all know that rational people only give up something for something with greater value.
