Job Description
VMware is seeking a senior manager to lead development activities and manage customer escalations in the Continuing Product Development (CPD)’s Engineering team in Beijing, China. This is a highly visible engineering management position to provide continuing product development for ESX – VMware’s flagship virtualization product, across a wide variety of software and hardware configurations. You will manage a team of senior engineers responsible for continuing development effort in multiple areas of ESX/vSphere and other VMware products, and in delivering update and patch releases of VMware products. You will also work with other managers in the global CPD organization to manage product related escalations from the Field and Global Support organizations.
Responsibilities:
• Lead CPD development effort in areas such as product security, networking, CIM etc.
• Drive engineering efforts in delivering product enhancements, defect fixing in update and patch releases.
• Work across function to coordinate update and patch release activities for VMware product line.
• Work closely with other managers in the global CPD organization across other Geographies to manage product related escalations from the field and support organizations. Provide prioritization, root cause analysis and resolution of the escalations.
• Manage, coach and motivate team member to ensure a highly productive and efficient team
• Responsible for staffing, budget setting and resource management
Requirements:
• 4+ years in managing a diversified and high-performing engineering team.
• 7+ years of industrial experience with a significant portion of the experience in development and development management.
• Must be experienced in software development methodology and software maintenance practices
• Excellent leadership skills
• Strong organizational, people management, project management and customer interaction skills.
• Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple outstanding tasks
• Strong communication. Fluent in English and Chinese.
• Solid knowledge on x86 architecture as well as Windows and Linux/Unix OSes
• Strong domain knowledge in operating systems and one of the following areas are highly desired: product security, networking, device drivers, CIM, etc.

• MS in Computer Science or equivalent and 7+ years' related experience
