GENERAL SUMMARY
Installs, configures, and maintains lab equipment, environment, and infrastructure in support of customer demonstrations, proof-of-concepts, and solutions development activities. Ensures that the labs are maintained at the highest levels of quality and efficiency by following established best practices. Demonstrates a strong desire to provide best in class service to all customers of the labs. Collaborates with remote peers on a regular basis to ensure alignment with global processes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Install MS-Windows, VMware, and Unix/Linux servers.
• Install and maintain system software. Install patches and updates as necessary to ensure that stability and security compliance objectives are met.
• Administer IP and storage networks end-to-end.
• Manage power and cable infrastructures following established best practices.
• Responsible for the setup and configuration of EMC products.
• Provide troubleshooting and break/fix support.
• Support data migrations for equipment rotations.
• Work with asset management team to maintain accuracy for all lab assets.
• Support lab change requests and provide strong communication to lab customers for status.
• Assist engineers with tactical deliverables.
• Monitor performance/utilization and make recommendations for improvement.
• Serves as main point of contact for all questions/issues pertaining to lab activity.
SKILLS
• 3+ years experience with Microsoft and Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• 1+ years experience with SAN, NAS, and IP networking administration.
• Exposure to VMware products would be an added advantage
• Must be willing to take ownership of issues and resolve them with a sense of urgency.
• Strong understanding of storage implementations (SAN, NAS, and BuRA).
• Administrative expertise with EMC Symmetrix, CLARiiON, Celerra, CLARiiON Disk Library, and Cisco products is preferred.
• Certifications on Storage, Networking and Systems would be an added advantage such as CCNA, MCSE and Unix/Linux Certifications.
• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Education Required: BS EE, CE, or CS
Experience Required: 3+ years of general IT infrastructure management experience.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs.
