INTERNATIONAL BUYER FOR SHANGHAI
Our client is the market leader in the door and door operator
industry. With sales revenues of over $600 million, it is the only national scale competitor with leading share positions in doors and operators for residential, commercial and industrial use.
This company has three plants (two in Ohio: Alliance and Baltic and
one in Shenandoah, Virginia). The combined facilities have approximately 700 hourly and 200 salary positions. There are two union and one non-union facilities.
REPORTS TO:
The International Buyer will be based in Shanghai, China and report
to the VP Operations, ASD and dotted line to the Purchasing Manager, Operator Business ASD.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Maintain & ensure integrity of international supply chain in order
to meet MRP schedule ensuring the timely delivery of quality materials to meet production requirements.
* Responsible for the selection of suppliers through competitive
purchasing process.
* Ensures that cost effective and quality materials are purchased and
delivered on a timely basis.
* Interfaces with other departments and outside suppliers resolving
any international purchasing related problems that may arise.
* Maintains a cost saving approach to purchasing by continual
investigation of new sources of supply and new processes.
* Make arrangements to dispose of excess or obsolete supplies to
minimize any losses.
* Travels throughout the Far East extensively, either in a group or
alone, to visit current or prospective suppliers. Several trips annually to US operations are expected.
* Monitors all pertinent markets and defines how changes will impact
supply and pricing conditions.
* Maintains up-dated purchasing records ensuring accuracy of input and
reliability.
* Performs other related duties in helping to meet departmental goals
and objectives.
* Develop strategy and analysis to support effective negotiation.
* Negotiate with suppliers.
* Responsibility for developing continuous improvement plan for all
key suppliers.
* Responsible for monitoring supplier performance and develop
corrective action when required.
* Responsible for clear translation & communication between company &
supplier personnel.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for ordering designated materials in accordance with a MRP
schedule. Which will insure the timely delivery of quality materials
to meet production requirements. With the objective being to globally
source current domestically based product. Manage international supply
chain for finished goods and discrete components in Far East for ASD.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or recognized
equivalent with 4-10 years of related international purchasing
experience.
US education a plus.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS - International purchasing experience in a high
volume-manufacturing environment required. Fluent English & Chinese
language skill a must. Both verbal & written skills required.
