The MSCI Asia-pacific index rose 1% to 126.47, led by Japanese and Korean financial services sector, especially brokers.

TOKYO
NIKKEI 225 gained for a 3rd day, led by banks and brokers, on good news that the Ministry of Finance said in a report today that imports gained 27.3 percent from a year earlier, the fastest pace since November 2004, and exports rose 17.5 percent, the most in 18 months. Both figures beat economists' estimates. The trade surplus shrank 19.3 percent, it said.
(According to Bloomberg : Mitsubishi UFJ Securities and other brokers benefited from the biggest second-half share rally since 1972 as trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange more than doubled during the final three months of 2005. The Nikkei surged 40 percent last year.
Third-quarter profit at Mitsubishi UFJ Securities jumped to 26 billion yen ($225 million), the brokerage said yesterday. The stock surged 15 percent to 1,545 yen. Shares of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial, the world's largest bank by assets, rose 4 percent to 1.58 million yen.

Internet firms consolidated slightly, such as Yahoo! Japan, SoftBank; Chip makers continued to progress. Elpida Memory saw its all-time historical highs yesterday, leading this sector bullish movement in the ST : There’s still more potential in Chipmakers than in internet firms.
Seeing major resistances of NIKKEI 225, we remain neutral in the index, maintaining our long chipmakers / short internet firms strategy, in order to benefit from a spread between the 2 sectors, hedging the index risk.

The KOSPI continued to advance, ing yesterday’s rebound, led by Hynix, banks, brokers & our previous small-mid caps stars such as AUTONET, LOTTEMIDOPA, but most stocks could not follow this movement. 10 shares reached upper limit, the market could be less dynamic than yesterday.
As most stocks entered in the resistance area, we are neutral, searching for a selling entry in order to benefit from a possible bearish consolidation.
