Position Summary
Develop company-wide integrated communications concepts and measures that will position the company with internal and external audiences. Advise and support company management and the Business Units in all communications-related matters.

Major Responsibilities
Work closely with corporate executives (both HQ and China based) and business unit leaders to develop appropriate communication strategies across a range of areas: corporate market communications, corporate media relations, internal communications, corporate public relations, online communication
Work closely with business unit and provincial communication executives to implement global messages and guidelines appropriately tailored for local conditions
Work closely with HR to ensure internal communications supports the overall HR strategy
Employ, direct, manage, train and reward communication professionals and mobilise a team to deliver best practice communication services
Build a positive relationship with the media
Manage and motivate external vendors
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION: KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Ideal Experience
Previous experience running Corporate Communications for a large corporation in China
Early career experience in journalism in China an advantage
At least 15 years in the communications/PR sector, either with corporations or agencies
Minimum of five years of management experience
Critical Competencies for Success
Teamwork and influencing. it is an extremely large and complex organization. Success in the company in a role like this comes from the ability to persuade and to work with others, rather than to dictate.
Strategic ability. China is a huge market for it and is therefore very high profile within the company. Setting the right direction for both internal and external audiences is critical.
Project management. While the day to day work will be done by subordinates, on issues of critical importance the Director will have to take personal control to ensure that things go well.
Cross cultural capability. The ability to bridge the gap between headquarters and the local organization is very important. Knowing how best to present issues and work toward solutions with Germans, Chinese and other nationalities is essential.
