Resource Practice Manager of Managers

As managers of managers, RPMOMs regularly perform 1:1s with PDRMs and SEMs, conduct performance review and career development discussions at least once a year. They provide feedback on management competencies and coach managers on improving team effectiveness, quality, timeliness and cost-effectiveness of customer and internal deliverables. RPMs ensure that all their PDRMs and SEMs develop their management skills through active participation in Management Excellence events, training, mentoring and communities. As team managers, RPMOMs regularly perform 1:1s with Individual Contributors who report directly to them (EMs, Architects, PjMs, TAMs), conduct performance review and career development discussions at least once a year. They provide feedback on quality, timeliness and cost-effectiveness of customer and internal deliverables and coach them regularly.
RPMOMs ensure close supervision of assignments of delivery resources to engagements and contracts by PDRMs and SEMs. They formally review the bench and staffing levels regularly and formalize proactive discussions between PDRMs and SEMs about upcoming resource availability with sales (Services Sales Manager, xSEs), pre-sales (EMs, Architects) and contract add-on/renewal (TAMs). They ensure that the PDRMs and SEMs grow their teams’ delivery skills through 20 days/year of readiness attained through training and events, participation in mentoring, job shadowing (as guest) and Microsoft Services University (new hires only). RPMs formalize and supervise interactions of PDRMs and SEMS with service line leads to forecast readiness activities for new solutions/offerings/offers so that resources are ready to deliver these to customers when sold
RPMOMs oversee the structuring of consulting engagements and support contracts to ensure they are properly scoped to meet the customer’s requirements profitably. RPMOMs directly review and approve the largest, most complex and high risk engagements and contracts. RPMOMs support, coach and enable their direct reports to ensure they apply similar insights to engagements and contracts that don’t grant direct RPMOM interaction. RPMOMs also ensure that EMs, PDRMs and SEMs review the current portfolio of engagements and contracts regularly to ensure delivery is on track within approved scope or that scope changes are properly handled (scope change requests, contract add-ons, etc). RPMOMs also ensure that all legal, fiscal and personnel policies such as ESAP approvals, time conformance, engagement length, client invoicing, T&E, etc, are honored.
RPMOMs support, coach and enable PDRMs and SEMs to convincingly drive customer satisfaction activities (Conditions of Satisfaction, Service Delivery Plan updates, etc) and behaviors (Responsiveness, deliver on promises, raise issues early, etc) for their teams. They ensure that customer expectations are clear, captured and delivered on, and support the team in meeting / exceeding them. They take ownership of and resolve escalations as necessary, and always respect the Services Sales Manager’s overall customer relationship for services and the ATU Manager’s overall customer relationship for Microsoft. RPMOMs ensure that EMs, Architects and TAMs review and contribute (as appropriate) to Account Plans (APs), Services Growth Plans (SGPs), Services Delivery Plans (SDPs).
Qualifications:
 Must have a degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience. Higher relevant education preferred.
 10+ years related professional services experience required.
 3+ years of people management experience required
