the question i raised here was bothering me before i even left china

i had a bunch of euroipean friends in beijing before i left china, iwas hanging around them, some german some swedish, some italian

before i left for usa, they told me do not let it bother you: whatever works for you, never try to first determine is this a western school of phylosophy or oriental

i accepted that na dhave been working for me, mostly professionally.

but then in our lives, there is always more than work, eat and dirnk.
we are human being and we tend to social with others in our own group

i have friends from many different cultural backgrounds and i social with all of them, but all with distances subtlly kept

the thing is, if you are sensitive enough, you will notice it does not matter where you grow up or the other ones, it is not the race. but race does bring certain value differences. but then again, when you find the differences between yourself and other chinese, you are shocked: damn, now i cannot fit into my own racial group either!

so you lock yourself up and do some reading: you social with the people dead thousand yers ago. that is the time i do not feel lonely
